Author: Sarah Tew

Hello! I'm Sarah, and I'm an English teacher living in Burgos, Spain. I've been a language assistant in public high schools in France and Spain for three years. In Spain, I work in bilingual programs and teach biology, chemistry, geology, and, of course, English. I received my CELTA in 2017 at York St. John University. Before moving to Europe, I taught adults and children in Florida and Virginia. My favorite part of teaching English is connecting with learners and allowing them to achieve their personal and professional goals. I speak French and Spanish (and am currently learning Italian, thanks to my Italian fiancé) and have a bachelor’s degree in classical languages. When I'm not teaching, I'm busy exploring Spain or working on my languages.

Posted on August 24, 2020August 26, 2020 by Sarah Tew

It’s estimated that 60-75% of people worldwide speak more than one language. With multilingualism being so common, why is it that so many people still believe they can’t learn a new language well into adulthood?  The age at which you acquire a language does influence how you acquire that language, but it’s only one factor…

Graded materials are very common in ESL teaching and can be a great addition to your classroom. Graded texts are usually authentic English texts that have been simplified,…

It’s the end of the year or close to it for students and teachers all over the world. Yet, because of the pandemic and its ensuing disruptions, it doesn’t feel anything like the end of the year. The electric excitement isn’t building in the hallways. There are no parties, no games, not even the adrenaline…
